What fits in a 10-yard dumpster?
A 10-yard dumpster holds about 3 to 5 pickup-truck loads of debris. We recommend the 10-yard dumpster most for concrete, dirt and small bathroom remodels. Weight still matters, so keep the 2-ton limit in mind as you load. Typical jobs that fit:
- A small bathroom remodel: tub or shower, vanity, toilet, tile and drywall
- A small patio or walkway removal, concrete only, loaded halfway
- Dirt or sand from a small landscaping or grading job, loaded halfway
- A single-room cleanout or a small shed
These are typical examples. Bulky items take more room than you expect, so describe your job when you call.
Can a 10-yard dumpster hold concrete?
Yes. The 10-yard dumpster is built for heavy debris like concrete, dirt, brick and sand, but you can fill it only halfway up the walls. That limit keeps the loaded truck under highway weight limits. A clean load of one material only, such as concrete with no trash or wood, qualifies for clean-fill pricing.
Heavy loads pass the 2-ton limit long before the dumpster looks full, so the halfway line is the one to watch.
Is the 10-yard the right size, or should I go bigger?
If you expect to fill the 10-yard dumpster past the top rim, move up to the 15-yard dumpster; a second haul is billed as a whole new rental. There is no smaller size, so it is the best start for heavy debris.

10-yard dumpster questions
How many pickup loads fit in a 10-yard dumpster?
About 3 to 5 pickup loads, assuming an 8-foot pickup bed loaded level holds 2 to 3 cubic yards.
Is a 10-yard dumpster big enough for a bathroom remodel?
Yes, for a small bathroom. A tub or shower, vanity, toilet, tile and drywall from one small bathroom usually fit. For two bathrooms or a large primary bath, look at the 15-yard dumpster.
What happens if I fill a 10-yard dumpster to the top with concrete?
We can't haul it. Concrete has to stop at the halfway line. If the dumpster is loaded higher, a $125 dry-run fee applies and the extra concrete has to come out before we can pick it up.
How much space does a 10-yard dumpster take up?
About 12 feet long and 8 feet wide. It fits on most single-car driveways, with room for the truck to back in straight.
