How Dumpster Weight Is Billed
Every Cade Bros dumpster includes a set weight: 2 tons for a 10-yard, 2.5 for a 15-yard, 3 for a 20-yard and 4 for a 30-yard. Weight over that is $75 per ton, billed by the exact pound from the county landfill's certified scale ticket.
What is the weight limit on each dumpster size?
The weight limit is the tonnage included in your rental price. The 10-yard dumpster includes 2 tons, the 15-yard 2.5 tons, the 20-yard 3 tons and the 30-yard 4 tons. You can go over the limit; the extra weight is billed at $75 per ton.

How is a dumpster weighed?
A dumpster is weighed on the landfill's truck scale. The truck is weighed full (the gross weight) and empty (the tare weight). The net weight, gross minus tare, is your debris. That net weight is compared with your included tons, and anything over is billed.
We use certified municipal facilities in the Rio Grande Valley: the City of Edinburg Solid Waste Landfill or the City of McAllen Recycling Center, depending on where your project is. Each one issues an official digital weight ticket.

How much is the overweight fee?
The overweight fee is $75 per ton over your included weight, charged pro-rata by the exact pound. We never round up to the next half ton or full ton. If your 20-yard dumpster weighs 3.40 tons, you pay for 0.40 ton: $30.00.
How your final bill works · 20-yard
3.40 tons on the ticket − 3.00 included = 0.40 ton × $75 = $30.00
The load is weighed on the county landfill scale and billed by the exact pound, never rounded up to the next ton. A copy of the certified scale ticket comes with your final invoice, emailed 3 to 5 business days after pickup. How dumpster weight is billed
When will I get my final invoice?
Your final invoice is emailed 3 to 5 business days after pickup, once the landfill processes our disposal log. It lists any overage and any extra days past the included 7, and it comes with a digital copy of the certified scale ticket.
How do I stay under my weight limit?
Keep heavy materials out of big loads. Concrete, dirt, brick and sand go only in a 10- or 15-yard dumpster, filled halfway. Tile, plaster and wet debris also add weight fast. Cover the dumpster before rain, and don't let neighbors add their own trash.
Weight and billing questions
Do you round dumpster weight up to the next ton?
No. We bill pro-rata by the exact pound on the official digital weight ticket from the county landfill scale. If your load is 0.12 ton over, you pay for 0.12 ton: $9.00.
Can I see the scale ticket for my dumpster?
Yes. We attach a digital copy of the certified landfill scale ticket to your final invoice, so you can check the exact weight printout yourself.
Why is my final invoice sent days after pickup?
The landfill has to process our disposal log before we know the final weight. That takes 3 to 5 business days after pickup, and your invoice is emailed as soon as it is ready.
How do I question a weight charge?
Call us at (956) 593-6661 with your invoice and scale ticket in hand. The ticket shows the date, time and weight, so we can check any charge with you line by line.
Does rain make my dumpster heavier?
Yes. Wet debris weighs more than dry debris, and you pay for every pound over your included tons. Covering an open dumpster with a tarp before rain helps keep the weight down.
